In the Roma Imperiale district, just 350 meters from the sea, this magnificent historic villa dates back to 1936 and is considered a typical example of the style of “Mediterranean-neo rationalism”. The driveway highlights the perfect diagonal that crosses the house, also emphasized by the staircase and the terrace above. The entire volume of the villa is fluidly articulated into a real main facade.
Internally the house has never been renovated and maintains the taste and luxury finishes chosen during its construction. Marble, wood and other valuable materials come together in a classic and high-quality union.
The property retains the original finishes and retains the high ceilings typical of historic buildings.
The organization of the interior spaces all revolves around a magnificent stairwell which is the pivot from which the various rooms unravel. Characteristic is the curved side of the building which seems to echo and amplify the curvature of the stairwell and offers bright environments with continuous lines. The perception in all the floors of the house is to cross-connected spaces, easily interchangeable in a sort of continuity that offers fluidity and rest.
The living room on the ground floor and the staircase-dining room are separated by a large glass door. Which, when open, allows the living room to expand and the large rounded shape of the living room connects to the other in the dining room. On the ground floor, to the right of the stairs, there is a guest suite. Consisting of a very large bedroom, a bathroom, and a corridor. The entire portion of the existing building on the ground floor, to the right of the stairs, is intended for service areas and servants. These are rooms organized around a corridor, open to the outside. And they consist of a kitchen, a double bedroom and a single bedroom, a small bathroom with shower and a dining room.
The kitchen and the dining room have been recently restored with great attention to the original design by Pietro Pescarolo. All floors on the ground floor are colored concrete tiles excluding the utility areas which have (except the dining room) a cast sown on site.
On the first floor, the stairs lead to a rather large corridor organized like a real room. To the right, another corridor distributes two very large bedrooms and a bathroom. Currently, one of these two rooms is used as a studio. A further bedroom has been created in the other portion of the first floor.
A magnificent terrace with a half-timbered wooden parapet marks the entire curved part of the perimeter wall. We still find, on the first floor, the grit floors produced by the Tessieri company, except in the studio where an opaque carpet was applied.
Outside, in the large park surrounding the villa, there is a wooden gazebo designed by Castelfranco. Inspired by oriental pagodas with wicker chairs with a metal structure always coming from the Ottolenghi Wedeking villa. And finally a fountain by the futurist Ernesto Michahelles in honor of Taylard.
Outside, the gaze is lost in the large park with its annexes and swimming pool. A second villa bordering a second swimming pool was later built by the current owner and can be sold together with the main house. In this case, the park would become about 6 ha, offering a unique context in the heart of Forte dei Marmi.
Forte dei Marmi has always been a unique place, where you forget the passing of time and everything slows down: it is a special place, suspended between past and future.
Here the mountains embrace the beaches, culture meets good taste, art invades the streets, genuine food and starred restaurants, luxury is silence, privacy, feeling at home.
If you want to spend a beach holiday but, at the same time, dedicate yourself to cultural visits and tourist trips, Forte dei Marmi is the holiday resort for you, as it combines all these aspects, offering numerous options for choosing what to do and what to see.
Important historic cities such as Florence, Lucca, Pisa and the beautiful Cinque Terre, Lerici and Portovenere on the Ligurian coast are within a short distance.
