Getting married by the sea, in an aristocratic villa, in a garden overlooking the lake, in a former cinema, in an old marble sawmill or in a contemporary art gallery: Versilia offers countless possibilities to those seeking not only a beautiful and elegant location, but also a unique and unforgettable one for their wedding.
Indeed, many famous people in every era have chosen to get married here. Immediately after the end of the Second World War, the wedding of Susanna Agnelli and Urbano Rattazzi, celebrated at the Church of Sant’Ermete, made headlines: Suny, who had acted as a nurse during the war, arrived on board an ambulance, which was later donated to the Croce Verde del Forte.
In the 1960s, Versilia was at the top of the list of singers and actors’ preferences: from Peppino Di Capri, who celebrated his wedding with model Roberta Stoppa at the Bussola di Focette, to Delia Scala who, in the Church of Sant’Andrea in Viareggio, married Versilia’s Piero Giannotti, in the presence of friends and colleagues such as Raimondo Vianello and Sandra Mondaini, Walter Chiari, Carlo Dapporto, Garinei and Giovannini.

More recently, many famous couples have chosen Pietrasanta Cathedral for their wedding, such as politician and journalist Giovanni Toti and Siria Magri, or Camila Botero, niece of the Colombian artist, and Pascal Klapp. Massimo and Milly Moratti’s eldest daughter, Celeste, opted instead for the Pieve di Valdicastello for her wedding to actor Duane Allen Robinson. In the hall of the Municipality of Pietrasanta, frescoed by Igor Mitoraj, Clizia Incorvaia and Paolo Ciavarro, the son of Eleonora Giorgi and Massimo Ciavarro, who met in 1983 on the set of the film Sapore di mare 2, set in Forte dei Marmi, said yes.
And the list could go on with music and TV stars, football players, well-known and less well-known faces.
From the beach to the villas

Among the many possibilities offered by Versilia, the beach is one of the most evocative and popular: the idea of celebrating or celebrating weddings at sunset, with ‘les pieds dans l’eau’, or at least on the sand, is liked and evocative. Some bathing establishments, such as the Faruk Beach Club and Ostras Beach in Marina di Pietrasanta, thanks to agreements with the municipality are authorised to hold the civil ceremony directly on the beach.
But there are indeed many bathing establishments equipped to host highly suggestive parties, on the seashore, at sunset time, including the most famous and elegant ones, from Bagno Dalmazia, the beach of the hotel Principe Forte dei Marmi, to Bagno Annetta, from America to the Augustus Beach Club and the Boccelli family’s Alpemare.
The tenor’s family also owns Villa Alpebella, the result of the renovation of Oliviero, one of Versilia’s most famous clubs, frequented by names such as Domenico Modugno and Charlie Chaplin, from Paola di Liegi to Ornella Vanoni and Paolo Villaggio. The summer residence of Andrea Bocelli and Veronica Berti hosts events and weddings, thanks also to a splendid Italian-style garden.
As with the baths, the choice of villas in the area is wide and rich. Among these, Villa Orlando in Torre del Lago stands out for its lakefront bordered by century-old trees, with a magnificent view of the hills of Lucca and the Apuan Alps. Here, in collaboration with the municipality of Viareggio, it is possible to celebrate weddings and civil unions.
The most unusual locations

But Versilia is also a land rich in history, art and culture. And so it is also possible to find very special and unusual spaces to celebrate or celebrate weddings.
For example, the former open-air cinema of Focette, in Marina di Pietrasanta. Renovation by architect Tiziano Lera has given life to Le Cinéma, a space 300 metres from the sea, surrounded by a large park. The giant screen of the former cinema has been retained, on which videos and images can be projected.
From film lovers to art enthusiasts. A short distance from the centre of Pietrasanta, an industrial building of over 700 square metres houses the collection of contemporary art works by Rosa and Gilberto Sandretto, the Magazzino Pietrasanta.
Events and weddings can be organised here, in an unusual and special setting. The Magazzino is part of the Hotel Pietrasanta, in the town centre.
In Seravezza, in the Studio Artco space, you can breathe in the history of Versilia. It is a marble workshop, still in activity, and an industrial archaeology building whose history begins in the mid-16th century, in parallel with the adjacent Palazzo Mediceo. The 750 square metre space can be set up to host weddings and other events.
Of a different kind is the proposal of Paradis Agricole, an eco-friendly farm located less than 2 kilometres from Pietrasanta. 100% certified organic fruit and vegetables are produced here, which are then used in the Paradis restaurant, located in the town centre, or sold to the public. Parties and events can be organised in the outdoor gardens or in the 800 square metre greenhouse, surrounded by nature.
Wedding at home

Villa Guernica
However, no location is more exclusive and intimate than a home. Among the proposals of The Dream Real Estate are splendid villas for rent that have large gardens and indoor and outdoor spaces suitable for hosting a wedding party.
One example is Villa Guernica, located in a quiet residential area. The garden, which extends over 1,300 square metres, has a large swimming pool and surrounds the villa protected by hedges. The large portico, entirely tiled, and the various living areas set up outdoors offer ideal settings for convivial and festive moments.
Villa Loggiato and Villa Pergolato make up a splendid property, which can be rented in its entirety. The villas share a well-kept, lush garden and swimming pool. Porches and loggias, equipped and furnished, can accommodate the different moments of a magnificent wedding party.
